About me
Maria Thereza Palhares is a graduate student in the Teaching Languages in Global Contexts (TLGC) programme at Simon Fraser University, in Vancouver, Canada. She holds a BA in Law and a licentiate degree in English and in Pedagogy, as well as has a graduate degree in English Language Teaching from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil. She has been a teacher of English as a Foreign Language for the past 15 years, having worked with children, teenagers and adults at language institutes, private schools and as a private tutor. She has also developed a programme to teach underprivileged children using the play-based approach in partnership with the city hall of Pedra Bonita, in Brazil.
